Shipmates--I will be going to Branson in June for Charlene's family reunion. It will be held at the Lodge of the Ozarks. We were there last year with Jerry and Mary Bacon when he attended his smokeboat reunion. Bacon's thought it was a great place for a reunion so I will negotiate our deal for Sept of 2011. I will also scout other locations. I'll report back to you in July. We will also check out the RV parks and deals as well as shows and trout fishing. I understand the dinner cruise on the lake featuring the talking dog act is a hoot. I know it is early but give me some idea of how many of you might attend so I have some handle on how many rooms to set aside and what I can BS them out of in the way of comps. jj

Barry--Branson is 30 miles from Springfield, the site of the National Convention. It is connected by a 4 lane highway so getting to Convention events should not be a problem. There is so much to do in Branson it will wear you out just thinking about it. When are you in Cottonwood? We spend winters in Mesa and there are a number of Tcup guys in the area. jj

Candy and I have reservations at an RV Park in Branson called Shenanigans RV Park at: www.bransonrvparks.com/I talked to Lynn Groninger, the owner, and she is willing to hold Reservations for anyone starting right now with a very small deposit. If you will be bringing an RV ~ this is an option.

Shipmates, We were in Branson a couple of weeks ago as reported. This will be a great place for our reunion. I suggest we use the Best Western Landing View and Suites Hotel, 403 W Main, Branson, Mo. By Sept 2011 it will have completed its upgrade to a Best Western plus. It is located a block from downtown Branson and the Landing( upscale shopping and dining) and at the beginning of "The Strip". The rate will be in the $85 range which includes a free hot breakfast. The RV park on the lake is a couple of blocks away and goes for $25 per night. It is a City owned park called Lakeside RV Park. Great place; fishing docks, swimming, boating at a very good price--MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW if you want to use the RV park--big auto auction in town that week and half the spots are already taken 14 months out. I checked out some of the shows and trust me you don't have time to see them all. A very good deal is the Son's of The Pioneers Show. We tour the Shepard of the Hills grounds and Old Matts Cabin, elevator ride to the top of the observation tower then a Chuck Wagon dinner before the Son's of the Pioneers put on a nearly two hour show. One of our shipmates, Jerry Bacon, saw it last year and thought it was the highlight of their Branson tour. BTW Jerry and Mary are coming from their home in Hawaii to be with us in Branson they liked it so much. We arrive at 2:00 and finish around 7:00--$34 each plus free parking. We would do this on Friday. We will try not to schedule anything that will interfere with the National in Springfield for those who will want to attend the Sub Vet events. I need a rough head count for the hotel--not set in stone--but if you think you will attend email me at jjflynn628@att.net. Later, jj

Our USS Wahoo is planning a Branson reunion in April 2011. Check out the website I put together of what has been approved for some ideas. Our reunion coordinator is really good at this: websitesbycook.com/wahoobranson2011/Stan Cook

Just joined tonight. Am interested in the Branson trip. I'll keep an eye out for more information. BTW, I was on the Gold crew from May to June 1964 and transferred to the Blue crew from June '64 to end of '66. Made the first 4 patrols out of Guam and also the shakedown. Ron Johnson MM1(SS)
